TAYLOR WINS WELTER TITLE FROM DAVIS

On this day in 1991, Meldrick Taylor won his second world title by taking the WBA Welterweight crown from Aaron Davis via 12-round decision at the Trump Plaza in Atlantic City. Taylor, rebounding nicely from the loss of his Jr. Welterweight title to Julio Cesar Chavez the year before, used his trademark speed to again become a champion.

BASSETT BEATS GIOSA THIS TIME OUT

West Philly's Percy Bassett avenged a prior defeat to South Philadelphian  Eddie Giosa with his own 10-round decision at The Met in Philadelphia, on this day in 1950. The two never broke their 1-1 tie.
