PHILLY MATCHMAKER
HAROLD MOORE PASSES

Boxing matchmaker Harold Moore died Wednesday (9/30) at age 77, after a long illness. He was well known in local boxing circles for his work with Peltz Boxing Promotions. But prior to his days as a matchmaker, Moore was a boxer himself. He fought nine pro fights in the Philly rings, posting a 3-5-1 (2 KO) record against the likes of Otis Graham, Marvin Edelman, Joe Bonadies, and Joe Aurillo. As an amateur welterweight fighting out of the 39th PAL, Moore placed second in the 1947 Philadelphia Silver Gloves tournament. A year later he returned to the prestigious annual competition as a middleweight and again was the runner up - this time in the Golden Gloves division.

Moore was a popular man among Philadelphia's boxing community and will be greatly missed.   Rest In Peace, Spitz.
