WELTERWEIGHT MAYON PADLO DIES

We received an e-mail from the South Philly neighbor of former welterweight Mayon Padlo saying he passed away last Thursday, January 13th. We have not yet confirmed Padlo's death but he was about 91 years old. He made his name in the ring between 1937 and 1952, while compiling a 75-21-4 (36 KO) record against the likes of Ike Williams, Billy Arnold, Fritzie Zivic, Bob Montgomery, Gene Gollotto, Wicky Harkins, Frankie Saia, Jesse Gethers and Midget Wolgast, who he stopped in the third round of their 1939  bout at the Cambria AC. We will post more information as it becomes available.
