Marty Shuler returned to Atlantic City for his second promotion, offering seven four-round bouts on Saturday night, February 8th. In the main event, southpaw Philly welterweight Joshua Jones 5-0-1, 2 KOs, returned after a nearly three-year layoff to win a unanimous decision over Detroit's Kaywann Sistrunk, 0-4-1. Jones scored one knockdown and won by three scores of 40-35 from judges Steve Weisfeld, Lynne Carter and Mark Consentino. Middleweight Zachary Dubnoff, Springfield, NJ, 4-1, 2 KO, edged Virginian journeyman Alberto Delgado, 1-11-4, 1 KO, over four rounds, winning a majority decision. Judge Steve Weisfeld called the fight a 38-38 draw, but was overruled by Mark Consentino and Henry Grant who both saw the fight in Dubnoff's favor, 39-37. Philly bantamweight Josue Rosa, 5-0, 4 KOs, scored a second round TKO over Jose Rodriguez of Markesan, WI, 4-3, 3 KOs, to remain undefeated. Rosa sent Rodriguez crumbling to the canvas in his own red corner, forcing referee Allen Huggins to stop the bout at 1:43 of the second. AC heavyweight Rodney Brooks made a successful pro debut (1-0, 1 KO) with a speedy TKO of Quintell Thompson of Columbia, MO, 4-10-1, 4 KOs. After Brooks put Thompson on the deck for the fourth time in round one, Referee Allen Huggins had seen enough. The time of the stoppage was 2:35 of round one. Super middleweight Jahvel Joseph, Bronx, NY, 3-0, 1 KO, won a four-round unanimous decision over Davonn Boone, 1-2, Suitland, MD. All three scores by judges Steve Weisfeld, Mark Consentino and Henry Grant were 40-36. Philly's Doug Northern, 1-0, 1 KO, made his professional debut with a second round TKO of Dakota Lester of Hannibal, MO, 3-9-1, 3 KOs. After Northern trapped Lester in the corner and fired away, referee Ricardo Vera stopped the bout at 1:25 in round two. Bronx welterweight Dezmond Lucas, 2-0, 1 KO, won his four rounder against southpaw Kynndale Prather, 0-5, Kansas City, KS, by third round knockout. Referee Ricardo Vera ended the bout 41 seconds into round three. Philly Boxing History did not have a reporter at these fights, but photographer Jano Cohen captured all the action.
