featured an eight-round featherweight scrap between Edward “Kid”
Vazquez of Fort Worth, TX (12-1, 3 KOs) and Jose Argel of Puerto
Rico (8-4, 2 KOs). Despite a willing opponent in Argel, Vazquez was
able to outbox and outpoint the scrappy brawler throughout the
contest, earning himself a unanimous decision victory with all three
judges scoring the bout 80-72. Vazquez looked like an experienced
pro, displaying crisp footwork and sharp counter punching ability.

JOHNS WINS BY KO IN PRO
DEBUT

four-round contest between Najeem Johns (Philadelphia) and Darryl
Chamberlain (Baltimore MD). It was the pro debut for both fighters.
Philadelphia’s own Johns won by first round KO in a staggering
sixteen seconds! In doing so, Johns showed he was an exciting
Philadelphia prospect. Johns opened the night with a fireworks
performance, and possibly a historical moment in boxing history as
the fastest KO in a pro debut. The referee was Shawn Clark.
