
After five straight wins, Philly-based junior welterweight southpaw
Isaiah Johnson won his first main event fight Saturday night in the
Grand Ballroom of the Yesha Center in Southwest Philadelphia. The
show was titles "Young Kings" and included a number of rising
prospects. Johnson won the bout by unanimous six-round decision over
William Parra Smith of Anchorage, Alaska. It was the first time
Johnson was extended the full limit in a pro fight. In fact, no
previous fight lasted more than three rounds. Johnson improved to
6-0, 5 KOs, while Smith fell to 4-12-1, 3 KOs.

CORBIN STOPS ZIMMERMAN
In the co-feature scheduled for four rounds, Philly southpaw
Marvelous Corbin stopped Baltimore's Joshua Zimmerman at 1:24 of
round one of their junior welterweight fight. Corbin raised his
record to 2-0, 2 KOs. Zimmerman remained winless as a professional
(0-10).

ADAMS WINS IN ROUND ONE
Philadelphia lightweight Rashan Adams remained undefeated (4-0),
scoring his third straight by knockout. This time, he defeated
Kelvin Smith of Pittsburgh in the first round of the scheduled
four-round fight. The time of the stoppage was 1:40. Smith fell
below .500, 3-4, 2 KOs.

FARMER HALTS FOWLKES
Lindenwold, NJ welterweight Nimal Farmer won his second straight
first round TKO to raise his record to 2-0, 2 KOs. His victim was
Leonidas Fowlkes of Winchester, VA. The scheduled four-rounder ended
after only 1:20. Fowlkes slid to 2-11-1.

OLMEDA TOPS COOKE
Eliezer Olmeda of Gloucester, NJ defeated Philadelphia junior
middleweight Rahiem Cooke by unanimous decision over four rounds.
Olmeda improved to 3-2; Cooke slid to 1-3.
Harvey Dock was the referee for all five bouts and
Bernard Bruni, Adam Friscia and Marc Werlinsky were the official
judges.
The show was promoted by Rodney Rice's RDR
Promotions. before the five professional bouts, a slate of amateur
fights were presented beginning at 5:30 PM. RDR returns to the same
venue on December 3 with a card featuring local welterweight Mark
Dawson. |
