Rodney Rice's RDR Promotions returned to the Newtown Athletic Center on Saturday night, May 27th, with a seven-bout card. In the main event, Andrew Rodgers stopped Samuel Teah in the eighth and final round of a junior welterweight bout. Coming into the fight with an underwater pro record, Rodgers, Elkhart, IN, shocked local fans with his upset of the local favorite. Teah, known for pulling a few upsets of his own, found himself on the wrong end of this shocker. With less than one minute left in the fight, Rodgers scored the TKO at 2:39 of the eighth. The referee was Shawn Clark. The win boosted Rodgers' record to 8-11-2, 3 KOs. Teah, Philadelphia, fell to 19-5-1, 8 KOs. Philly junior middleweight Paul Kroll remained unbeaten with a 6-round unanimous decision over Mexican journeyman Eduardo Reyes. The scorecards were lopsided in favor of Kroll. Judge Gail Jasper saw the fight the closest at 59-54. Bernard Bruni and Marc Werlinsky gave the fight to Kroll by whopping 60-53 scores. Kroll improved to 10-0-1, 6 KOs, while Reyes fell slid 11-19, 6 KOs. Lindenwold, NJ middleweight Nimal Farmer remained undefeated against Rah'quand McDaniel, scoring a third-round TKO in a scheduled 4-rounder. Referee Shawn Clark ended the fight after the third round. The official time was 3:00. Farmer left 4-0, 4 KOs. McDaniel, 1-2, 1 KO, lost his second in a row, his first by stoppage. In a scheduled 6-round welterweight fight, Isaiah Johnson of Philadelphia extended his undefeated streak to 8-0, 6 KOs with a third-round TKO of Marquis Hawthorne of Waco, TX. Referee Eric Dali stopped the fight at the 2:30 mark of round three. It was the seventh straight defeat for Hawthorne, now 8-18, 2 KOs. Philadelphia middleweight Erron Peterson also ended his scheduled 4-rounder in round three. Peterson stopped Tampa's Nissan Anderson at 2:49 of the third. The referee was Shawn Clark. After settleing for a draw in his last bout, Peterson returned to the win column and improved to 4-0-1, 3 KOs. Anderson remained winless, 0-4-2. David Calabro, Aston, PA, won his professional debut with a quick TKO of Pittsburgh's Michael Turner. Calabro won the scheduled 4-round bantamweight bout at 2:14 of round one. The referee was Eric Dali. Calabro went home 1-0, 1 KO, while Turner lost his fourth straight, 0-4. All four of his losses came by knockout. The night's opening bout, Philly middleweight Tariq Green stopped Milwaukee's Courtney Williams after just 1:54 into round one. Referee Eric Dali halted the bout. Green improved his record to 3-2-1, 1 KO. Williams fell to 0-3-1. It was the first time he was stopped. PHOTOS:
