TYRONE EVERETT GRAVESTONE - DEDICATED DECEMBER 2005

The first step in the process was to pour a concrete foundation for Everett's headstone. This shot shows the plot number 430-2. Prior to this, Tyrone's grave was an unmarked plot of grass.

Tyrone is buried at Eden Cemetery in Collingdale, PA. Eden is the oldest African American cemetery in the United States.

Tyrone's mom, Doris, suggested that a photo be added to the headstone. The Everett family chose this shot from a variety of publicity photos we had in the archive. The shot shows Everett as he looked shortly before his 1977 death.

The finished monument now marks the grave of Tyrone Everett, uncrowned Junior Lightweight Champion.

Tyrone Everett was born on April 24, 1953. He died about one month after his 24th birthday on May 26, 1977.

On December 10, 2005, members of Everett's family - brother Mike, mother Doris, & brother Eddie were on hand for the placement of Tyrone's headstone. Mike, Doris, Eddie, and John DiSanto held a private service for Tyrone on that date.
