LEGENDARY SPECTRUM TO BE DEMOLISHED TODAY With a heavy heart and a scratch of the head, we sadly acknowledge that today, Tuesday, November 23, 2010, is the day slated for the demolition of one of Philly Boxing's all-time greatest landmarks - the Spectrum. For those of us who grew up in the "Spectrum Era", the South Philly venue is very much a hallowed hall for the sport we love. During that era, numerous historic battles and an endless list of memorable fighters called the Spectrum home. It was the last time that boxing in Philadelphia was truly great. |
