WILLIAMS IS 2015
PHILLY FIGHTER OF THE YEAR

Story by John DiSanto

Julian “J-Rock” Williams had a great year in 2015.  He won three fights and edged closer to a world title bout at junior middleweight.  That championship opportunity will come later this year, but on Sunday, Williams will pick up his first Briscoe Award as the best fighter in Philly.

Two years ago, Williams took home a Briscoe Medal as the “2013 Prospect of the Year”.  Since that point, he’s chased the top men in his division.  However, none of the belt holders or top contenders would face him.  So, Julian just kept working hard and fighting the best opponents he could.  Julian kept winning and kept improving.  As a result, he not only earned a Briscoe Award, he kept climbing the 154 pound rankings.

Other Philly boxers were impressive in 2015, but Julian Williams looked the best and proved that he is one of the best boxers in the world.

The “2015 Philly Fighter of the Year” award is sponsored by the Family of Philadelphia boxing legend Jesse Smith.

Come out to support Julian Williams and the rest of the Philly boxing community on Sunday, October 16, 2016, 1-4 pm at Xfinity Live! In South Philadelphia.  Admission is $5.
