South Philly heavyweight Sonny Conto returned to the ring after a fifteen-month layoff, Saturday night at the Osage Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The scheduled four-rounder was the opening fight of a nine-bout card presented by Top Rank. Conto only needed one minute and forty-one seconds to claim his seventh professional victim. Conto landed a big right hand to the head of Waldo Cortes that folded the Arizonian to the canvas for the ten count by referee Gary Ritter.

Cortes' record slid to 6-4, 3 KOs. Conto improved to 7-0, with 6 KOs. This was Conto's third straight first rounder and his fifth overall. The fight was streamed live on ESPN+ and was the first supporting bout for Joe Smith Jr.'s 12-round majority decision over Maxim Vlasov for the vacant WBO light heavyweight title, which was broadcast on ESPN.
