JONES ON WEIGHT; KARASS OVER

Mike Jones easily made the 147-pound limit for his Saturday night 10-rounder against Jesus Soto-Karass; tipping the scales at a fit 145.5 pounds. Coming in below the welterweight limit is common territory for the six-foot contender. Over the past two years, he's always come in light. Such was not the case for his opponent Friday afternoon. Karass weighed 148 and had to take off the extra pound to green-light the high profile undercard bout. They will fight for a collection of regional belts sanctioned by the NABA, NABO & WBC, and a win for Mike keeps his steady rise through the welter ranks on track. Rated near the top of every world sanctioning body, a little time and no slip ups are all that separate MJ from a crack at the championship. The main event on Saturday is the intriguing jr. middleweight title fight between Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito, which will be televised via Pay-Per-View. Jones vs. Karass will also be part of that telecast. Good luck Mike Jones!
