SHOCKER!!! In what has to be the local upset of the year, Philly road warrior Dhafir Smith visited Jeff Lacy's backyard and pulled a shocker that may put an end to the former champion's career. Smith handily won the 12-round unanimous decision by lopsided scores of 116-112, 118-110 and 117-111. The fight was not on TV and only the skimpiest of recaps have hit the wires. So we're not sure exactly what happened. But a glance at the official tallies, shows that this fight was ALL Dhafir Smith. With the victory, Smith took the vacant UBO super middleweight title, raised his weary record to 29-19-7 (4 KO), and scored the signature win of his career. With losses in 3 of his last 4 bouts, Lacy, 25-4 (17 KO), returns to the drawing board to ponder his future. "No Fear" Dhafir's surprise took place before a large crowd at the open-air Jannus Landing in St. Petersburg, FL. Congratulations to Dhafir! You made Philly proud! |
