LUNDY WINS ESPN PUNCH OUT

Hammerin' Hank Lundy defended his NABF lightweight title with a crushing KO of David Diaz in round six of a nationally televised fight (ESPN2). With Hank in the lead early in the bout, Diaz decked Lundy in round four. As Lundy fans sucked in their collective breath, Hank wobbled up and went back to work. By the end of the round, he had Diaz bleeding badly from a nasty cut over his right eye. The blood flow was so intense that it seemed the fight would be stopped at any moment. Finally in round six, southpaw Lundy blasted Diaz with a straight left hand that dropped the former WBC champ flat on his back where he took the 10-count. The time was :37. The win brought Lundy's record to 21-1-1 (11 KO) and kept the NABF belt safely around his waist. Diaz dropped to 36-4-1 (17 KO).
