British heavyweight hopeful Joe Joyce, 10-0, 9 KOs, defeated Philly's Bryant Jennings, 24-4, 14 KOs, by 12-round unanimous decision in their bout on Saturday at the O2 Arena in London. Jennings started quickly, hurting Joyce to the body en route to winning round one. However, Jennings fought the rest of the fight conservatively and allowed Joyce to out-work him throughout most of the fight.

Joyce won the next six rounds, before Jennings took the eighth. Jennings landed many sharp, clean punches, but Joyce was busier and backed Jennings up much of the way. Bryant also won the tenth round, but was penalized one point for a low blow. After Joyce took the eleventh, Jennings closed the fight well, taking the final round.

It was a slow-moving fight with very little drama. Jennings landed the showier punches, but they weren't enough to sway the judges. All three judges scored the bout for Joyce. The scores were 118-109, 117-110 and 115-112. My tally was 116-111 for Joyce.

The win gave Joyce his tenth professional win and kept his career on the rise. Jennings lost his second straight fight, and although it was another serious setback, the defeat did not appear to be a career-ender.
