PHILLY BOXING HISTORY |
|
The Ring, the magazine known as the "Bible of Boxing", began running a regular feature called "Prospects of the Month" in the August 1929 edition, and continued to do so for more than fifty years, through the October 1979 issue. To be named a Ring Prospect of the Month was an honor eagerly sought by any young boxer. Usually it represented their very first attention as a professional fighter, and for those whose career failed to fully blossom, it often was the last honor they received. Listed below are all the Philadelphia-area boxers who were named as a Ring Magazine Prospect of the Month. |
